Movie Screening: Records Collecting Dust II
Join us at the iconic The Black Cat here in Washington, DC this Wednesday 9/12 for a special screening of Jason Blackmore‘s new film Records Collecting Dust II. The film is a sequel to Blackmore‘s 2015 film. It is a film that focuses on the East Coast cities of Boston, NYC, Washington DC, and includes in-depth interviews with 28 highly influential musicians from the 80’s hardcore punk scene talking about the music, the bands, and the records that changed their lives. Many luminaries and veterans from the DC punk/hardcore scene are participants.
Interviews include Walter from Quicksand, Page from Helmet, Tommy from Prong, Jason from Swiz/Bluetip, Craig from Shudder To Think, Mike from xXx Zine and Curtis from Taang Records, Ian MacKaye (Fugazi/ Dischord Records), Tom Lyle (Government Issue), Amy Pickering (Fire Party), Michael Hampton (S.O.A./Faith), Cynthia Connolly (Banned in D.C.), John Joseph (Cro-Mags), Richie Birkenhead (Underdog/Into Another), John Sox (F.U.’s), Jack Kelly (Negative FX), Al Quint (Suburban Voice), and Dave Smalley (DYS/Dag Nasty/All) among others.
The screening will take place at 7:30 and will also include a number of record vendors selling many of the records discussed in the film. Tickets can be purchased in advance here or at the door for $10.
