Cheick Hamala Diabate is not just an artist but he’s a descendant of Mali’s ancient griot tradition. Washington is fortunate to have him based here and performing regularly. You can get into his sound this Friday along with Los Empresarios and The Sol Power All-Stars!

Just finished the poster for my upcoming Cinco de Mayo gig with Thomas Blondet (Rhythm & Culture Recordings) at Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar. We’ll be dropping serious Latin heat, covering Digital Cumbia, Tropical Bass, Moombahton and Latin House & Funk.

Nice little stack of Latin, disco, funk, boogaloo & sampledelic electronica from the May 23rd DC Record Fair. Quite happy to be at this one, as I designed the [from all accounts, very well-received] poster. Got a couple hours to dig through the crates and catch up with friends. Missed the Fort Knox Five DJ…
