Songs of the Day: The Meters “Stormy” & The Juggaknots “Clear Blue Skies”

In 1969, Louisiana’s Meters were working on their first album. Nestled among the incredible funky tracks is a surprisingly low-key & emotional cut, simply dubbed “Stormy.” Many years later, the track would be sampled numerous times in a variety of music. My personal favorite has always been “Clear Blue Skies” by The Juggaknots. Tapping into the emotion of the Meter’s original, “Clear Blue Skies” delivers a social message that addresses racism, and ignorance. Check them both out below!
