Song of the Day: DrumTalk “Lose Again [feat. Josa Peit]”

Drum Talk—the apparent alias for a well-known UK producer—delivers Lose Again, a brand new EP on Crosstown Rebels that may be his strongest offering to date. I have no idea who he (or she?) actually is, but with releases on Sofrito, Huntley’s & Palmers, and More Music, and with support from taste-makers like Gilles Peterson and Seth Troxler, DrumTalk is really speaking my language. Lead track “Lose Again” is a relatively simple but really catchy tune with a looped vocal sample, lush analog synth chords, melodic percussive elements, and an infectious vocal from Josa Peit.

DrumTalk is an East London-based producer and DJ. Inspiration comes via the musical lineage of London, Chicago, New York and Detroit, Lagos and Accra. He draws from elements of house, techno, bass culture and the rhythms of West Africa and the Caribbean.
