This 1967 Black Pride anthem as performed by the Impressions “We’re a Winner” and penned by the great Curtis Mayfield is as relevant today as it was when it released. Reaching number one on the R&B charts by 1968 shows the significance of the message embodied in this spectacular tune, “Keep on pushin’, like your leaders tell you to!” The leaders referred to being none other than Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, and others.
