Song of the Day: Ike and Tina Turner “Proud Mary”

There are certain songs that everyone likes, and I mean everyone. As a DJ who plays a good number of wedding receptions, where the crowd is different every time and the ages range from two to ninety, its super important to have a few songs like this in your back pocket. “Proud Mary” performed by Ike and Tina Turner is just such a song. People into soul and funk love this track as do rockers and county music lovers, and I’ve seen it destroy many a dance floor! It starts with Tina Turner laying out what she’s going to do which is play the beginning of the song “nice and easy” and before coming to the finish which they’re going to play “nice and rough.”

I don’t really want to talk to much about this song just watch the video and try not to dance! The original was written by John Fogerty of Credence Clearwater Revival in 1969. That version is great too but the Ike and Tina version is the gold standard!
