DJ Stylus: Hip-Hop In The Pocket at The Kennedy Center

March 25, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

“Hip-Hop in The Pocket” is a celebration of the artistic kinship and creative exchange between two musical “play-cousins:” go-go and hip-hop. Rhome “DJ Stylus” Anderson and Pure Perfection Band will explore how both musical forms have influenced each other and contemporary American music over the past several decades. This musical story-telling session is rounded out by host/singer Ne’a Posey and videographer Tewodross Melchishua. “Hip-Hop in the Pocket” was produced by Nzinga Tull as a tribute to go-go, hip-hop and music lovers who loudly and proudly groove to both!

This production will take place on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage as part of “One Mic: Hip-hop Culture Worldwide”.
