Song of the Day: The Undertones “My Perfect Cousin”

The perfect power pop song should be short, powerful, and poppy (ie. full of hooks). This song by Northern Ireland’s Undertones easily fits all those criteria. “Cousin” was released in 1980 and went to number nine on the UK pop charts that year.

The late BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel always said that “Teenage Kicks” by the Undertones was his all time favourite (note UK spelling) song. I love that one too, but I want to hear this one today. Enjoy!
