It’s Carnival week in Brazil so I thought I’d pick out a samba to get everyone in the mood. This one comes from the “Queen of Samba” Clara Nunes.
Nunes was the first female singer in Brazil to sell over 100,000 copies of an album but she tragically passed away in 1983 after having an allergic reaction to anesthesia during some fairly routine cosmetic surgery. Luckily for us she recorded quite a few LP’s in the 70’s and many of her samba recordings are considered classics of the genre. “Tristeza Pé No Chão” is no exception.
