Re-upped, re-named, re-booted

Vaqueros Electricos is now Bucket Funk!

Rusty B. and I have been doing our thing, Vaqueros Electricos, at Dodge City for close to two years now. Now it is time for a change. We’ve largely moved away from the latin and digital cumbia we’d originally set out to play (which, combined with the venue name, inspired our party’s name), and we’ve both focussed entirely on the thrilling, banging new sound of Ghetto Funk, Future Go-Go, and the 80s boogie that works so well on the dance floor. Combining the scrunch-up-your-face bass of dubstep with thick classic breakbeats and samples that run the gamut from hip-hop to tropicalia, Ghetto Funk is taking the dance underground by storm. And Rusty and I are proudly representing the sound here in DC. With All Good Funk Alliance, Rusty’s been creating tracks inspired by DC’s homegrown go-go sound, and he’s found kindred spirits in places as far-flung as Australia and France, who are also looking to DC for inspiration.

We are super-excited about this re-birth. We’ve got special guests planned, starting with Jayclue (Q’Dup Records, LA) this Friday, April 6th. Join us this Friday and every first Friday monthly at Dodge City. Bucket Funk is here!
