Atticus: Quinn and Laurelin’s Masquerade Ball Wedding

a rare 4 hours and 15 minutes of dancing

It’s rare that a dance floor lasts for more than 2 hours. Weddings are full day events and party time is when the meek are separated from the strong. After an hour toddlers are tired and Grandma and Grandpa are thoroughly confused at “everybody shuffle’n.” Another hour later then feet start hurting and yawns spread like wild fire. This was not the case for Quinn and Laurelin’s wedding on Saturday. 4 hours and 15 minutes of dancing. This was not a mere reception… this was a test of celebratory spirit and a challenge of matrimonial endurance. After I realized this crowd wasn’t going to fade away and pounded a few cups of coffee, rolled up my sleeves and posed in a mighty stance proclaimed, “…challenge accepted.”

The intensity of the night was appropriately balance with the refined air of a masquerade ball. After introductions the couple danced to “The Tango” from Addams Family Values after which the entire party was asked to join in with everybody doing their best waltz to “Blue Danube.” Dancing was started off with Jive Bunny’s remix of “In the Mood” followed by Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell.” I kept in old school Rock’n’Roll for a while then switched gears to a mix of current pop and electronica including Daft Punk’s “Robot Rock.” Songs from Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys really got the bridal party going. Last song was a really treat and what a better way to end the night for the newlywed gamers then to play “Still Alive” from the game Portal sung by Ellen Mclain, the voice of Glados.
