Song of the Day: Captain Planet feat. Brit Lauren “In the Gray”

Captain Planet is one of my favorite producers these days. On his latest single, “In the Gray,” he cooks up a viciously catchy reggae instrumental, but for me it Brit Lauren’s infectious vocals that make the tune.

Shinehead is credited as one of the first Jamaican toasters—or MC’s—to fuse reggae and hip-hop in the 1980s, leading to a string of hits, including this cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”

Song of the Day: Yellowman “I’m Getting Married”

Yellowman is probably my all-time favorite dancehall artist. He comes correct on this crowd-pleasing tune, “I’m Getting Married” on the “I’m Not Crazy” riddim (also one of my favorites). This one always puts a smile on people’s faces, like a lot of Yellowman joints do!
