Song Of The Day: Toots and The Maytals “54-46 Was My Number”

If I had a theme song, “54-46 Was My Number” would be it. Sometimes I think of putting together a montage of me walking down the street, sitting in the studio or maybe even dancing in an abandoned warehouse… wait that’s “Footloose.” Anyway, the song was written about Fred “Toots” Hibbert’s time in prison. It is credited as first popular Ska track outside of Jamaica and has been referenced and covered by many bands including Sublime. It’s also on the sound track of one of my favorite movies This Is England. Enjoy!
