Song of the Day: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers “Don’t Bring Me Down”

I love a good cover song! “Don’t Bring Me Down” was written by the legendary songwriting team of Carole King and Gerry Goffin and was a #12 pop hit for The Animals in 1966. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played it live for many years and recorded it in 1978 on their live album Pack up the Plantation: Live! The Animals version is great but I think I have to give Petty the edge here. I love Eric Burdon and I’m personally not a huge Petty fan but he and his band just nail this one! I’ll include both versions so you can hear for yourself. Either way its a killer song that always gets me pumped up!
