Song of the Day: The Who “The Real Me”

I love bass! I never learned to play it but have been a fan for ages. I love Paul McCartney, Phil Lynott, Chris Squire, Bootsy Collins, John Paul Jones and many more bassists. My favorite though may be The Who’s John Entwistle aka “The Ox.” Entwistle revolutionized rock bass playing with the Who where he held down the bottom end up until his death in 2002.

It’s hard to pick out my favorite Who track (they were my favorite band in high school) but its easy to pick out my favorite Entwistle performance in the Who: “The Real Me” off of the 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. Entwistle’s bass on here is unbelievable and was reportedly done on the first take!
