Song of the Day: The Make-Up “Born on the Floor”

News came out last week that The Make-Up would be reuniting to play this May in London at All Tomorrow’s Parties. A lot of people would be very disappointed if they don’t play at least one DC show as well, which lead singer/insurrectionist Ian Svenonius tantalizingly alludes to in last week’s Washington Post article. Blending garage, punk, and classic soul and R&B into their own self-described Gospel Yeh-Yeh sound, The Make-Up was one of the most influential and interesting bands to come out of DC in the mid-to-late ’90s. They always put on a great show and wrote catchy tunes. Here is one of my favorites.
