It’s mid-March and we’ve had two consecutive 60 degree days here in DC! I’m confident I can say “spring is finally here” without jinxing the beautiful weather.
In 1985, Washington, DC’s short-lived Rites of Spring—considered the first emo band (though they reject the term)—produced End On End, one of my all-time favorite albums, for Dischord Records. The lead song “Spring” is two minutes and nine seconds of, dare I say, frenzied emotion. It’s a perfect start to the album, the season of Spring and many more 60 degree days.
