Song of the Day: Luna “23 Minutes in Brussels”

Luna’s song “23 Minutes in Brussels” from their third album Penthouse came out in 1995. It is six minutes and forty one seconds of guitar bliss. Lead singer Dean Wareham wrote the lyrics and Television guitarist Tom Verlaine guests on guitar and this song is all about the guitars. Driving, intertwining and glorious.

Dean Wareham formed Luna after leaving the hugely influential (but not a big seller) Galaxie 500 in 1991. The band is on tour right now (Oct. 2015) and as this writer can attest—after Tuesday’s 9:30 Club show—they still sound great.
