Song of the Day: Kim Carnes “Betty Davis Eyes”

Kim Carnes was a successful songwriter for years before making her mark in the 80’s with the hit, “Betty Davis Eyes.” Penning hits for successful artists such as Kenny Rogers and Barbra Streisand makes it seem ironic that this tune, which she became known for, would be written by Jackie DeShannon and Donna Weiss. Nevertheless, the song became a chart topper for Carnes (9 weeks at number 1), stateside and worldwide. Her soulful, raspy voice is as trademark as her white-blonde hair flowing on the cover of the Mistaken Identity album cover.
