Song of the Day: Fishbone “Everyday Sunshine”

I saw Fishbone a few times in the early 90’s. The blend of ska, punk, soul and metal made them one of my favorite bands. Their eclectic sound was cohesive and not contrived, full and powerful with an epic stage presence. Fishbone played a few weeks ago at The State Theater in Falls Church. They are one of the few bands both my brother and I really enjoy so we went together. It had been a while since I had been to a show where most of the people were my age. They played most of my favorites and they had me skanking and rocking to the beat all night like it was 1991 all over again.

If you are a Fishbone fan check out the movie Everyday Sunshine: The Fishbone Story. It chronicles the rise and fall of an incredible and unique band. It is a beautiful, sad and inspirational story about the passion of artists and the struggle of a band.

  1. Always dope. Always relevant. Saw Fishbone live for the first time after the screening of their documentary at the Lincoln Theatre. They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame right now.
