I’m always on the lookout for 45s that will be a nice fit for my soul/funk DJing gigs. Lately, I’ve been on a party-starter kick… meaning singles that are slow & chill enough to not to rush people into the wild late night vibe, but still get them primed for what’s to come. This 1969 single on Shout Records by Bit of Honey, called “Live In Maid,” is exactly that. It’s got the Betty Wright kinda feel to it, complete with complaints about the man in this woman’s life. Take a listen, and tell me this doesn’t get you in the mood to party.
