“Windowlicker” by Aphex Twin is an amazing IDM song. It is his Symphony no. 5 in my opinion. It was mind-blowing when it came out in 1999 and still holds up today. The sounds, cuts, groves and overall composition are just amazing. My roommate had the record and proudly displayed it in the front of his crates. This killed me as the image of Richard James’ maniacal grin pasted over a buxom model’s body was (and still is) disturbing. I’d hide it at the back of his crate when he wasn’t looking, then I’d find it in the front again. It became a game.
