Song of the Day: Supertramp “School”
Supertramp is one of my guilty pleasures. The English pop band started as more of a prog band back in 1969 and kicked around for a while before hitting success with their 1974 release, Crime of the Century, which produced two hits “Dreamer” and “Bloody Well Right” as well as the song featured here: “School.” This song to me is the perfect mix of prog, pop and jazz. Starting with a haunting harmonica solo the song stretches out at five and a half minutes but never gets tiring. I saw Supertramp in Atlanta during their “Breakfast in America” tour and “School” was definitely one of the highlights.
I don’t know much about the video accompanying the song here other than it was done in the mid-80’s and fits the song well.
