Song of the Day: Glen Campbell & Roy Clark “Ghost Riders In The Sky””

Guitarist, singer, and actor Glen Campbell passed earlier this week at the age of 81.  Campbell sold over 45 million records in his life and had hits with “Gentle on My Mind”, “The Wichita Lineman” and “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Campbell grew up in Arkansas and began playing guitar at age four! By 1960 he was a good enough player to become a session musician in Los Angeles. As part of the famous “Wrecking Crew” Campbell played on records by Dean Martin, The Monkees, Merle Haggard, Bobby Darin, Elvis and the Beach Boys (of which he was briefly a touring member).

Campbell also had a movie and TV career which I won’t go into here. For years I’d always thought of Campbell as a mellow MOR singer and didn’t realize what an amazing guitar player he really was. This clip is with Hee Haw’s Roy Clark (a fabulous player himself). Enjoy the clip and RIP Glen.
