Song of the Day: Foster the People “Sit Next To Me”

Foster the People‘s “Sit Next To Me” is one of several highlights from the band’s neon-hued third long player, Sacred Hearts Club. While previous releases Torches (2011) and Supermodel (2014) utilized dance beats and modern production flourishes to create an indie-minded brand of contemporary dance-pop, Sacred Hearts Club is their most club-focused work to date.

The record was produced by lead singer/songwriter Mark Foster and keyboardist Isom Innis, along with superstar producer Josh Abraham, Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta), and Oligee (Oliver). It is filled with kinetic dance tracks, hip-hop beats, bouncing baselines, and 80s-style synths. “Sit Next To Me” delivers sparkle and snap like vintage Hall & Oates crossed with MGMT.
