Song of the Day: Bob Marley and the Wailers “So Much Trouble in the World”
These are troubled times all over the world, indeed. What better artist to sooth our troubles, while urging us to face up to the truth and take hold of our destiny than Bob Marley? This is the first track from Bob Marley and the Wailers 1979 album entitled Survival, which was originally released on Marley‘s own Tuff Gong label. This album has been a favorite of mine since I was a lucky elementary schooler whose father brought him LP’s home from the Tower Records next to his office every week. The album is an absolute masterpiece on every level.
The songwriting is stellar, and Marley‘s delivery is as passionate as ever. The themes deal with human rights, justice, and liberation on a global level. The musical arrangements could not complement the material any better, and the musicians are absolutely on fire. It is music like this that can turn misery into motivation. Artists like Bob Marley help turn despair into dedication towards the betterment of ourselves and our collective situation.
In these times of uncertainty, corruption, sickness, and sadness, I wish to say an enormous thank you to all of the beautiful souls out there who are doing their part to help the situation in any way they can. To anyone who may be reading this, I wish you all the peace, health, safety, joy, sanity, and love that you can possibly experience amidst this madness.
