Song of the Day: AC/DC “Overdose” (Malcolm Young In Memoriam)

AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young passed away last week at the age of 64. Young, who founded the band with his brother Angus in 1973, was more than just the rhythm guitarist, he was the driving force behind the AC/DC sound which changed very little over the years much to their fans delight. He was also the leader of the band even though Angus in his schoolboy knickers got more attention.

AC/DC was (and is) known for their killer riffs and the one on Overdose is of my favorites. It’s off 1977’s Let There Be Rock LP which happens to the be the first one I ever owned. A slow guitar intro starts it off (not sure who is playing it) but then Malcom’s crunching riff kicks in and this tune goes to another level. Bon Scott‘s vocals are the icing on the cake. Rock on Malcolm!
