Next Monday, June 17th! From The Legend to Oasis, a celebration of the greatest indie label ever. Featuring DJ sets from Creationist selectors DJ D-Mac & Stereo Faith, and a sundown outdoor screening of Upside Down: The Creation Records Story.
In anticipation of DJ D-Mac’s June 17th Dodge City screening of Upside Down, the story of Alan McGee’s Creation Records, my song of the day is one of all-time favorites, “Upside Down” by The Jesus and Mary Chain.
“The Presence of Your Grace” is taken from The Telescopes’ magnificent second album (released in 1992 on Creation Records) and is a little-heard shoegaze touchstone. Highly recommended.
I often include “Wonderwall” by Oasis in my ’90s DJ sets. The guitar intro never fails to elicit a joyous response from crowds. Also, the chorus always has crowds singing along.
