DJ Meistro

In his own words, Marc has been “runnin’ tings in Washington, DC since forever.” With monthly residencies at Wonderland Ballroom (since 2004), Café Saint-Ex (since 2006), and Napoleon (since 2007), and most recently the bi-monthly Sol Power party at the Eighteenth Street Lounge with the aforementioned Deep Sang and DJ Stylus (dropping afrobeat, latin jams, Brazilian grooves, house, disco and funk), you can be assured Meistro’s got ample crates & skills. Check his Soundcloud page for downloadable proof.

Any size!

Meistro at Wonderland BallroomWhat makes you different from your competition?
Years djing in different clubs, house parties, and bars has taught me to masterfully read the crowd and respond with just the right song or mood changer at just the right time. I always like to stay at least one or two songs ahead of my audience.

What do you do to motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
Hasn’t happened yet (see above!)

What training have you received?
On the job training in clubs, bars, and house parties in different cities for 10 plus years.

What problems have you encountered at a wedding and how have you solved it?
Very occasionally something technical goes wrong — a missing cable, last minute venue change, etc. You just have to be early, flexible, and roll with the punches.

Technics, Rane and Serato

Greensleeves, Bastard Jazz and Sofrito
