Luaka Bop records just released a limited two-volume box set containing every record Nigerian funk synthesist William Onyeabor ever released. It would take a lifetime to find the original records (and a lot of coin), so picking this up is a no-brainer if you dig his tunes. He’s got a truly unique sound — lots and lots of synths, simple — but very thoughtful (and often funny) lyrics, bizarre electro funk drum machine rhythms, and original song writing. Check obvious career highlight “Fantastic Man” for all the proof you need.
