From their emergence out of Colorado in 1998, The Procussions have consistently been one of my favorite groups in the many crowded iterations of the indie hip-hop world. From the Rawkus era to the Bandcamp era, from a quartet to a duo, I’ve always been able to check back in on their career and find the hard drums, thoughtful lyricism and soulful production I seek.
I post “The Fringe” here as a choice pick from some of their more recent work because you get to see the energy that J. Medeiros and Stro Elliot bring to the stage. I recommend digging into their back catalog to get familiar, but also highly recommend seeing them live.
