Former lead singer for the Swedish pop group The Concretes, Victoria Bergsman has been going by her solo moniker Taken By Trees for the last few years. And once I heard about her new album coming out, the singer had mentioned that it was influenced by her trip to Hawaii and falling in love for the first time. I couldn’t wait to get a glimpse into her aloha experience.

Upon hearing “Dreams,” I was transported back to separate memories of my own. It was brought back by the distinctive guitar sounds of Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column. The influence was clear and terrific.

Funny thing, I found Hawaii to be a romantic place the first time I went, and I happened to be there by myself.
