OK, so this post is going to make me sound old. Not only because I chose “93’Till Infinity” by Souls of Mischief but also because I’m going to say this is how hip-hop should sound! The beats are centered around a live bass, obscure jazz and funk samples and the rapping style is not only charismatic but very different sounding because they trade bars off. It only reached No. 72 on Billboard’s Hot 100 but has lived on and is still relevant today…20 years later. Opio from Souls of Mischief says that “Over the years, that song has just grown and grown and grown, and touched other younger generations.” If you have never heard it please give it a listen.
