Atlanta’s DJ Jamad is one of the veteran selectors that I liken myself to in this game. Smart, soulful DJs cut from the cloth of a classic hip-hop and soul aesthetic.

Anything he drops deserves immediate attention. He recently snuck this slick Lil’ Scrappy blend onto his Soundcloud account, pairing the cut time dirty south raps of “Money In The Bank” with a double time afro-funk break. I’m mad that I can’t i.d. the break right now but I’ll figure it out eventually. Jamad took the extra effort to give the lyrics a nice radio edit too, making Scrappy’s crunk debut single work in a whole new context.
