Popcaan, who’s been dominating the Jamaican dancehalls for the past few years, just released his fantastic debut album on Mixpak records, Where We Come From. In some ways, he’s an unlikely dancehall hero in Jamaica — he doesn’t have the badman braggadocio most of the biggest recent Jamaican stars have embraced. He’s a likable, slight dude that just seems like a good guy. Someone you’d want to hang out with.
“Everything is Nice,” the lead single, has become something of a ghetto anthem in Kingston. The feel-good ballad-esque tune touches on struggles and triumphs of everyday Jamaican life. A working man’s anthem.
