Song of the day: Museum Of Love “Monotronic”

DFA Records has a knack for signing and releasing material from some of the best Indie dance bands. I’m comfortable purchasing every one of their releases even if I’ve yet to hear it. There are very few instances where I was unhappy with something they released.  I’ve had the good fortune to share the stage with quite a few DFA Records’ artists. Most recently I played a DJ set during Museum of Love‘s first DC show at U Street Music Hall.

Museum of Love is a New York band featuring former LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and Dennis McNany.  Their sound is described as Indie Dance/Nu Disco/Punk Funk, and falls in line with most of their DFA Records labelmates.  Their second single Monotronic is my song of the day.  It’s a little more laid back and smoothed out than their other material.  Typically I’ll play it early in a set, as it’s not quite a dance floor banger.  It’s great for building the vibes of a dance night.
