It’s that time of year when children, and many adults, dress up like ghosts, goblins and ghouls, and venture out into their neighborhoods in search of free candy and treats.  While this wasn’t the original intent of the holiday known as Halloween, this is how most of us have come to know it.

In 1981, well known New Jersey punk band the Misfits, released the 7″ single “Halloween” on Plan 9 Records. Since its release, it has become a punk rock Halloween staple.  It’s a must-play at shows and parties, and is a favorite cover song of bands around this time of year.  I consider it the definitive Halloween anthem.
