Song of The Day: Hudson Mohawke “Ryderz”

Over a week ago Scottish producer, Hudson Mohawke, teased a new track from his new full-length, Lantern (coming soon on venerable UK label Warp Records Limited). Mohawke put up a low-quality radio rip of the track, “Ryderz” from a Rinse FM broadcast on his Soundcloud. This week, Mohawke debuted a higher-quality version through Spotify. The song is built off the sample of D.J. Rogers’ “Watch Out For The Riders” and Mohawke quite literally rides the sample in the beginning before unleashing his trademark maximalist beat prowess.

After a string of more downtempo fare, Mohawke comes back with a vengeance to hush the naysayers and make them realize why he’s been tapped by the likes of Drake and Kanye West for beat duties. His new album, Lantern, comes out in June and will feature Miguel, Jhene Aiko and many more. Check out “Ryderz” in it’s full glory here:
