Song of the Day: Goblin “Profondo Rosso”

Goblin "Profondo Rosso"Happy Halloween!
While Goblin’s Suspiria theme may send shivers up your spine on this All Hallow’s Eve with its wordless nursery rhyme melody, the main theme to Profondo Rosso has a more rock edge, but no less menacing.

Gothic long before the term was coined, progressive rock band Goblin cranked out masterful horror soundtracks, most famously and successfully for Italian giallo director Dario Argento. In 1975, they released the soundtrack to Profondo Rosso (Deep Red), the first of many collaborations. It topped the Italian album charts.

I included another cut from the album, “Death Dies,” on my Grip of Terror mix.
