Song of the Day: Frida “I Know There’s Something Going On (Lindstrøm Remix)”

Frida’s classic single “I Know There’s Something Going On” gets an excellent deep cosmic disco reworking from fellow Norwegian Lindstrøm. Opening with producer/co-writer/drummer Phil Collins’ signature gated snare drum sound, Lindstrøm applies a disco thump and thickly lays on the synths and sequencers, giving a completely new backing for Frida’s desperate jilted lover vocals.

Originally released in 1982, the maximalist/minimalist new wave aggression of “I Know There’s Something Going On” was a real departure from the saccharine pop of both her prior solo work and her work with the supergroup ABBA.
