The brilliantly named Edit Murphy does a really classic remix of Marvin Gaye with “Mercy,” found on his Motown Edits Vol. 1 release. I really like how the sample of “Mercy, Mercy Me” (from Marvin Gaye’s 1971 What’s Going On album) is flipped on this one, resulting in a nice dubbed out disco vibe. This is simply a great remix and a [not-so-secret] secret weapon for Motown on Mondays.
