Song of the Day: Eagles “One of These Nights”

Eagles founding member Glenn Frey has died today at the age of 67. A statement from the Eagles today reads:

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

Penned by guitarist Glenn Frey and drummer Don Henley, “One of These Nights” was title song and first single from the Eagles’ fourth album of the same name and marked a move away from their country-rock beginnings and toward more mainstream rock. With a pulsing baseline and straight 4/4 tempo borrowed from the emerging sounds of disco, “One of These Nights” definitely reflects the changing attitudes of American music in 1975.
