Song of the Day: De La Soul “Breakadawn (Rhythm Scholar Brand New Day Remix)”

De La Soul holds a special place in hip-hop history for me. Their brand of 90’s hippie-vibe hip-hop and the classic sampled style of beats still resonates with me to this day. Their classic “Breakadawn” cut just got a nice rework from Rhythm Scholar and he really did the original justice. In this same sampled hip-hop form, Rhythm Scholar has managed to sample Smokey Robinson, The Brand New Heavies, Steely Dan, The Bar-Kays, Skull Snaps and Barry White to give it that old school feel.
