Song of the Day: Daft Punk “Get Lucky (feat. Pharrel Williams)”

brilliant marketing of a great pop tune

I know, I’m late to the game on blogging this one. But I have to feature Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky (feat. Pharrel Williams)” from the forthcoming Random Access Memories album. I have a feeling this one is going to be played a bit too much this summer although I do like the track. The rollout and marketing campaign on this tune was absolutely brilliant. I’ve been a huge Daft Punk fan since 1996 when I first heard “Da Funk” as a single well before their first album Homework was even released. This one is quite a bit more pop than those first 2 tunes I heard as a young club goer. While I’m on board with this one as you just can’t deny how good that groove is, I’m still hoping for more on this album with all of the hype it has garnered. I know it’s going to be more pop than I’m used to for a DP release, but I’m really hoping they have a few more underground-sounding tunes on their album. That being said, this is a great tune!
