Disco Syndicate got a hold of the multitracks of “Take On Me,” the 1985 breakout hit for Norwegian pop trio a-ha (best known for its innovative rotoscoped animated video), and give it an lengthy refresh, reinventing the intro with some drama, isolating Martin Harket’s soaring vocal, and taking their time getting into the heart of the song (akin to a-ha’s follow-up hit, “The Sun Always Shines on TV”), then extending those crisp drums and whirling keyboard pop hooks. Terrific!
