Song of the Day: Tekno “Pana”
In 2016, Tekno released the single “Pana”, a catchy Afrobeat track that gets me dancing from the first note. As a young singer-songwriter, producer, performer and dancer; he has already caught the eye of many in the international music scene. Tekno’s growing notoriety within the Nigerian music scene and the increased exposure of African pop music internationally has propelled his most recent hit single, “Pana” across radio stations and dancefloors around the world.
Tekno (whose is also known as Tekno Miles) orignally hails from Bauchi, Nigeria (though he grew up in Abuja) and is fairly new on the Nigerian music scene. Despite his fresh face, he’s gaining quick popularity. His initial breakthrough came in 2012 for his remix of the Ice Prince track “Oleku“. He has subsequently turned out a string of singles that have gained him wider and wider exposure. This has culminated with “Pana” which has proven to be his most popular song yet. Though still young, Tekno is already receiving extensive critical acclaim. In 2016, he won Best New Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards and “Pana” was nominated for four awards at the WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards.
At a time when African music is quickly moving into the global mainstream, Tekno’s recent breakthrough comes not only comes at a good time for him artistically, but comes in the form of a fun, sexy and above-all, danceable track that will surely make you want to move.
