Song of the Day: Northeast Groovers “Booty Call”

From Northeast Groovers 1994 release on Future Records & Tapes entitled Straight From The Basement, “Booty Call” is a bonafide DC Go-Go classic. I could groove to this track all day. No matter where I am on the planet, this masterwork will forever take me right back to DC. Those drum fills… my God! I can’t get enough. This is a track that I can drop just about anywhere whether folks know it or not and I can bet on a positively spirited reaction. Before you know it, heads are nodding and bodies can’t keep from moving. This gem exemplifies the power of a truly original musical culture, coming to you live and direct from the Nation’s capitol.

Northeast Groovers formed in 1985 in, you guessed it, North East D.C. Comprised of nine members, they began by playing Top 40 and Hip Hop tunes over Go-Go rhythms at bowling alleys and clubs throughout the D.C. metropolitan area. Still active to this day, they are firmly established as one of preeminent DC Go-Go bands. Don’t mute D.C.!
