Song of the Day: Lorde “Royals” (Go-Go Remix feat. Kenny Sharp)

DJ Dyn-O-Might and rapper Kenny Sharp put a very DC spin on Lorde‘s 2012 debut single/ chart smash by turning it into a down and dirty Go-Go epic. The version of the song features an all new backing track played by some of DCs many talented Go-Go players. The song follows a tradition of DJ Go-Go artists re-contextualizing radio pop as extended Go-Go workouts. The track really works, pushing Lorde‘s hit in a bold new direction while still retaining the core of the song. The remix is so good, it even earned itself a write-up in the Washington Post.
