UK post-punk band Five or Six released a handful of records on Cherry Red (when Mike Alway was the A&R Head) in the early eighties. I was introduced to their sound through the Pillows & Prayers compilations.

Five Or Six was part of the early-1980s British post-punk scene, expanding upon the lessons learned from the likes of Joy Division and the Fall in the late ’70s. […] Atmospheric electronics mix with dub-inspired soundscapes and edgy, skeletal rock for a singular, captivating sonic experience.

For last weekend’s Record Store Day, ViNiLiSSSiMO—the vinyl-only division of Spanish label Munster Records—reissued their 1982 record Cántame Esa Canción Que Dice, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah which compiles a lot of their unreleased songs, including the only song sung by Julia Gilbert.
