Single of the Week: DJ Bacon “Soulflower Remix”

DJ Bacon
DJ Bacon is a DJ/producer from Brisbane, Australia. Bacon has developed a local reputation as a hard-working, hard-rocking DJ with multiple residencies down under. And he’s known internationally (especially among DJs and the party hip-hop faithful) for a prolific release schedule of mixtapes and inventive blends of classic hip-hop with hard-hitting funk breaks.

His brand new “Soulflower Remix” blends The Pharcyde’s “Soul Flower” verses (from their classic 1992 Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde album) over “Soul Power” breaks from the Godfather of Soul himself James Brown. DJ Bacon provides enough production twists and turns to keep things interesting both on and off the dance floor. Sharp guest cuts provided by DJ Robert Smith. Flower Power, indeed!

The b-side “Universal B-Boy Megamix Reboot” packs a truckload of classic breaks and samples into its four-plus minute run time. Digital downloads are available now; Coke bottle green wax ships in November. There are just a few pre-order copies left to purchase direct from the man himself.
